Intellectual ability IQ will take you to college but your EQ that is emotional intelligence will sustain you through college and help you face that final examination.

Emotional intelligence allows you to connect with your feelings turn your intentions into action and also enable you to make informed decisions about what matters to you.

Emotional intelligence is a concept researchers came up with in the 1980’s to explain why intelligent people do stupid things .Well,intellectual ability or intelligence Quotient is not enough on its own to achieve success in life.We need EQ to keep the balance.EQ and IQ exist in a tandem and are most effective if put together.

Ever prepared for an interview and everything is on your fingertips only to realize immediately you face your interviewer everything has disappeared?!that’s frustrating right ? 😃well,that’s why Am saying that Emotional health is as important as your other aspects of life.

Your mental health will affect your performance in terms of physical health ,mental health ,your relationships and even social intelligence.How you feel about something will always affect how you perform in that particular thing.I realize if I really love something then I’ll perform better ;but when am not okay with something I’ll tend to take longer I’ll use more effort and even struggle more than I should have !This doesn’t mean that I can only do stuff I love ? How about that unit in my major that I don’t like ? Do I quit ? No quitting is never an option for such 😃what we do is change our perspective and view things differently.

This calls for the adoption of “The do something initiative.”As human beings we tend to loose interest over time or even gain interest over time.This initiative states that when you don’t feel like anything motivates you ; then do something !!Don’t just stay there and feel sorry about yourself.Let those low moments push you to be a better person.

With time, I have learnt to infuse my emotions with values.Especially now that’s it’s quarantine and all I want is relax ;it’s not possible since I have to be able to attend my classes and on some days my body just won’t want to do it.😂🙆🏻‍♀️I have been struggling but eying on the result and on the other side of the coin and realizing how lucky I actually am to even be in school makes me push me beyond the normal and want to do better.

On some days I’ll be happier than others but it’s finding all about me being able to accept and acknowledge my emotions and how I feel thus being able to handle my emotions properly.😃Sometimes I’ve found myself saying am okey about something that has actually hurt me just to avoid the concequences or being hurt but I end up hurting more .That is called Repressing emotions which is very dangerous.Emotions are to be expressed .Don’t ever feel the need to repress your emotions just make sure you express them in the right way try not to hurt others 😃we shall be exploring more of this .Stay tuned 😃for more.
