MASK OFF!!

Social influence; social influence refers to how individuals change their ideas and actions to meet the demands of a social group, perceived authority, social, role, or a minority within a group wielding influence over the majority.

As human beings, we have let society influence our lives. We limit ourselves to a certain way of life as defined by society. We have let it define prosperity and success for us. Leaving us vulnerable and in a desperate need to achieve its success. As a result, we have been carried away to an extent of losing ourselves. And it’s time to mask off!☺️

Most of us encounter social influence in its many forms. For example, doing a specific major because your parents did it and have been successful in it. While realistically speaking that’s not what you’d rather be doing. Furthermore, we are influenced by the requests of people who are seen as holding positions of authority. For instance, an employee will follow the orders of his supervisors to please them.

Whilst social influence can have a positive effect on behavior, its disadvantages have vast impacts on the persons’ lives. You will realize that as a result of these negative influences we have a lot of toxic people out here and a bunch of sad people who are either not happy with what they do or are just doing it for the sake of doing it. People who hold grudges against each other and in such a society preaching peace is just but a drop of water in the ocean no one really cares.

This is what we are seeing in our society where people are driven by hate and each person is trying to make himself/herself look like they are better off than the other person. In a real sense, as a society, we ought to complement each other and bring the best out of each other.This is so heartbreaking as one person’s definition of sin and wrong only applies to the other person. If the influential person feels like it’s okay to do something then it’s approved but if the same is done by the other person then it’s considered wrong and evil. This is what is called double standards.

If we ever want to excel as a society it’s high time we appreciate our differences. Embrace love and be the best versions of ourselves. It is up to you and me to decide what kind of life we want to embrace. Choose love over hate. Choose forgiveness over taking offenses. The Bible that we should love one another just as we love ourselves. A glass can only overflow if it’s full the same way our hearts can only give love when we are already love-filled. Be assertive
you must assert yourself in the decisions you make. Ask yourself, “Is this where I want to be in life ?? Is this the approach I want to choose for my life ?? Do I have the strength to set up boundaries and say “no” wherever it’s necessary ?? What are those boundaries? Am I honest and transparent with myself and others, and am I able to assert my wishes clearly and respectfully? Don’t allow people to trade on you, bring you down, or take from you without your permission. Knowing how to say “no” in every situation is as important as understanding how to say “yes.”
