China Kenya bilateral relations date back to 14th December 1963, this was after the formal establishment of Kenyan embassy in Nairobi. In this relation China became the fourth country to open an embassy in Nairobi. As a result the Kenya China relationship has grown immensely.The friendship for the past 50+ years has stood the test of international tides and proven to be Mutual and strategic. Recently President Kenyatta and Chairman Xi Jinping rejuvenated the ties by signing a comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership.

As a result of this partnership Kenya has experienced immense development in various sectors such as: infrastructural development, health, education, tourism, energy and agriculture.

In recent years the economy of Kenya has registered an increase of upto  15 % following the construction of standard gauge railway that runs from the port of Mombasa to Nairobi. This railway has reduced the travel time from Nairobi to Mombasa by up to 5 hours. Since the launch of the railway in May 2017 2.77 million people have travelled  on it and up to 1.4 million tonnes of goods transported. Yielding up-to 103 million dollars in the span of one year.

In in China being the World’s fastest growing economy at a rate of 6.4% has acted as great economical mirror to Kenya making Kenya a strategic economical hub. Kenya is looking forward and has started establishing economic zones and industrial parks. As a result there will be increased trade balance and administration. Following the new established special economic zones in Mombasa and Naivasha Kenyans will be able to exploit specific production advantages such as access to raw materials, cheap labor , access to power and access to markets.

Kenya is home to the world’s big five animals an many other animals which are her greatest source of tourism attraction. China has helped conserve this  great heritage.Late 2017 chinese government made a meaningful and influential declaration which showed China’s firm determination and positive attitude towards entirely forbidden commercial fabrication and rendition of ivories and relative products. In 2018 we had about 81000 Chinese tourists to Kenya travelled to Kenya for leisure and adventure.

The Kenyan education system has also developed and as result a lot it Kenyan students got scholarships to study in China as a result of this great friendship.

During SGR construction 14 corridors 600 culverts and 61 bridges for wild animals are designed and constructed. Fences have also been created to stop wild animals from danger.

China has also been able to establish a sino Africa research institute which has enhanced environmental protection and has supported the conservation of wild animals in a wider range by focusing on the protection of Biological diversity, the control of desertification and the demonstration of Modern agriculture which are widely concerned by African countries.

Great sources of renewable energy has been introduced in Kenya such as solar energy and geothermal energy.

China has acted as a major investor towards the Kenyan Vision 2030. This is a flagship project established in 2008 aimed to transform Kenya into a newly industrializing middle income country providing high quality life to all its citizens by 2030 in a clean and secure environment.

China has indeed been a good friend to Kenya. Long live Kenya China friendship looking forward to seeing more and greater prospects in regards to china Kenya friendship.
